The North Suburban Library District is excited to announce its annual Summer Reading Club! This year’s theme is “Find Your Voice!” and there are activities, events, and prizes for all ages.
The Summer Reading Club runs from May 30th to July 22nd. There are events and activities happening all summer long, so be sure to check the library’s website or Facebook page for a full schedule. Starting on May 30th, you can head into either NSLD location and to sign up and pick up a To-Go bag.
Kids from birth to 6th grade can participate in the Summer Reading Club by reading books, or having books read to them, and listening to audiobooks. They can track their reading progress on a paper log or online using the Beanstack app. Children who log their time through the app, or by turning in their paper log by July 22nd, will be entered to win a karaoke machine!
Teens in grades 6-12 can also participate in the Summer Reading Club by reading and listening to books and tracking their progress on a paper log or online using the Beanstack app. Teens who read 10 hours will receive a prize book and those who turn in their log by July 22nd will be entered to win a Kindle Fire HD.
Adults can get in on the fun too! They can also participate in the Summer Reading Club by reading books and completing reading challenges. They can also pick up a free book after logging 10 hours of reading. Adults who turn in their paper log by July 22nd will be entered to win a Kindle Fire HD.

Included in the Summer Reading Club program are in-person events for participants. This summer, NSLD will be hosting the following events.
NSLD Family Pool Party at Walt Williamson Pool

Families can enjoy an evening of swimming!
Macktown Living History Tours
2221 Freeport Rd., Rockton, IL
July 11th from 10 am – 1 pm
Families can explore the beauty of the Macktown Forest Preserve, do a scavenger hunt, and bring a stuffed animal to enjoy a “parade of pets” in nature. There will be free Culver’s custard for participating kids.

End of Summer Bash: Family Night at the YMCA

Celebrate the end of summer and the Summer Reading Program with swimming, a bounce house, basketball, games, karaoke, and a craft. Registration is required. Register here.
