If you live in Winnebago, Ogle, Stephenson, or Rock county and your child is five years old or younger, they can receive a free book in the mail every month through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
The Imagination Library is a program that mails free, high-quality books to kids ages birth through five-year-olds regardless of their family’s income status. Dolly Parton created the Imagination Library in her hometown in 1995 to get books into the hands of kids. Since then, the program has expanded throughout the world.

Kids receive age-appropriate picture books each month. Some of the books my four year old son received include The Little Engine That Could, Ten Thank You Letters, and The Beach is Loud!
The program is being offered to kids in the Stateline thanks to the United Way of Rock River Valley, the United Way of Northwest Illinois, and the United Way Blackhawk Region.
If your child is under 5 and lives in Winnebago county, you can register them here.
If they live in Ogle county, you can register them here.
If they live in Stephenson county, you can register them here.
If they live in Rock county, you can register them here.
