Kids Spot Academy in Roscoe offers a unique approach to preschool for kids ages 2-5! Their Gym-N-Learn program combines healthy physical activity with an educational curriculum that helps kids get Kindergarten ready. Their goal is to help kids learn using both their minds and their bodies.
The active component of the Gym N Learn program encourages kids to play and use their large muscle groups. They do this through gymnastics, dance, and tumbling. Exercise has been proven to boost cognitive performance, stimulate brain growth and focus, and help with learning. Kids also may see improvements in their sleep quality.
The academic portion of the program prepares kids to exceed kindergarten standards. Their curriculum includes reading, writing, phonics, math, music, Spanish, social studies, using technology such as tablets, computers, and a smartboard, and emotional intelligence. Kids learn to identify their emotions and express them as well as how to have empathy for others’ emotions.
The Kids Spot teachers create a safe and positive environment where children can feel comfortable and thrive. All staff members are CPR and First Aid certified, background checked and fingerprinted, and have an early childhood education background.
Kids Spot Academy started on Wednesday, September 8th and runs until Wednesday, May 18th, 2021. They follow the Kinnikinnick School District calendar for days off.
The program has three levels: Ready 2 Learn, Preschool, and Pre-K.
The Ready 2 Learn program is for 2 year olds and runs Tuesdays or Thursdays from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm.
The Preschool program is for three years olds and runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:45 am – 11:15 am.
The Pre-K program is for four and five year olds and runs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:45 am – 11:15 am or 12 pm – 2:30 pm.
The school day is segmented into the following time frames:
- 45 minutes of physical activity – gymnastics, tumbling, dance, music and movement
- 20 minutes of circle time and Spanish – calendar, days of the week, months, counting, states, presidents, sight words, and simple Spanish phrases
- 75 minutes of curriculum – phonics, literacy, writing, math, technology
- 10 minutes of storytime
All students are required to be potty trained before attending school. Masks are required and children are socially distanced while in school.
The cost of Kids Spot Academy is $250 per month for the T/TH session and $275 per month for the MWF session.
