As Illinois enters Phase Four and Wisconsin continues to open up, more family-friendly attractions are reopening with restrictions and new regulations in place. We’ve put together a list of family-friendly places in the Rockford area that are open now or opening soon. We’ll continue adding to this list as places announce their plans.
Pools and splash pads
Klehm Splashpad in Rockford is open. Their hours are Monday through Sunday from 9 am – 4 pm. Cost is $6 per adult, $3 per kid, free for kids under two.
Krueger pool in Beloit opens on July 9th. They will be following social distancing.
Splash Canyon Water Park in Oregon is open daily from 8 am – 8 pm.
Riverside Splashpad, Lions Beach, and The Bubbler in Janesville are open. Riverside Splashpad is open daily from 10 am – 8 pm. Lions Beach is open daily from 11 am – 6 pm. The Bubbler is open daily from 10 am – 10 pm. All three are FREE!
Vernon Park splash pad and Summit Park splash pad in Beloit are opening in mid-July. These are FREE to enjoy.

Alpaca Pines Farms in Poplar Grove is open for scheduled tours for kids 5 and older for $5 each. The tour includes a visit with sheep, ducks, and chickens, feeding the alpacas, and a tour of the mill. The tour is about an hour long. Call 815-292-3222 to set up your tour.
Midway Village Victorian Village is open and offering hourly tours from 11 am – 3 pm Thursday – Sunday. Cost is $8 per adult, $6 per child ages 3-17 and free for kids 2 and under. Book your tour here.
Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens will open on July 9.
Rotary Gardens in Janesville is open. Hours are 9 am – 6 pm daily.
Severson Dells in Rockford is open. Hours for the trails are sunrise to sunset. Nature Center is open Monday through Saturday from 8 am – 4:30 pm and Sunday from 1 pm – 4:30 pm.
Summerfield Zoo is open. Hours are Wednesday through Friday from 9 am – 3 pm. Saturday from 10 am – 5 pm, Sunday from 10 am – 4 pm. Monday and Tuesday, they are closed.
Volcano Falls in Loves Park is open from Sunday – Thursday from 12 pm – 9 pm and Friday and Saturday from 12 pm – 10 pm.
Burpee Museum will open on July 3, 2020. Hours will be 10 am – 1 pm and 2 pm – 5 pm.
Coral Cove in South Beloit will open on July 12, 2020. Hours will be Sunday through Tuesday from 12 pm – 8 pm, closed on Wednesday, Thursday from 12 pm – 8 pm, Friday and Saturday from 12 pm – 9 pm.
Discovery Center Museum opens on July 7 to members and July 8 to the public. Hours will be from Tuesday – Sunday from 9:30 am – 5 pm with timed entries from 9:30 am – 11:30 am; 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm; and 3 – 5 pm. The museum will be cleaning between time blocks. Reserve your time here.
GAR South Ninja Gym and Trampoline Park are open. Their hours are from 11 am – 12:30 pm, 1 – 2:30 pm, 3 – 4:30 pm, 5 – 6:30 pm, 7 – 8:30 pm Monday through Saturday.
Historic Auto Attractions will open July 9, 2020. Hours are Thursday – Sunday from 10 am – 5 pm.
Nickeworld in Rockford is open from 12 pm – 8 pm.
Restaurants will now begin indoor seating. You can also eat outside at many Rockford area restaurants.
Rockford Art Museum will open July 6, 2020. Hours will be 10 am – 5 pm daily. Admission with be FREE for the rest of the year except for December 3-6 for the Art in Bloom event when it will be $7 per person.
Tilted 10 in CherryVale Mall is open. Hours are 11 am – 10 pm daily.
Cherry Valley Library is open. Hours are Monday from 10 am – 6 pm, Tuesday from 9 am – 6 pm, Wednesday from 10 am – 6 pm, Thursday from 9 am – 6 pm, Friday from 10 am – 5 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm (starting July 11, 2020).
Ida Public Library is open. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 am – 4 pm, Wednesday from 1 pm – 7 pm and closed Saturday and Sunday.
