Maywood Free Church in Rockford, Illinois is excited to host its annual Harvest Fest on Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 3 pm to 6 pm! This event is free, open to the public, and a great way to celebrate the fall season with family and friends.
Maywood Free Church is located next to Jefferson High School at 3621 Samuelson Road in Rockford.
History of the Event
Harvest Fest was originally started as a church event by a member who had a barn. He would invite people from the church to come to his barn to enjoy food, fellowship, and candy as an alternative to Halloween. After he sold his barn, the church property became the location for Harvest Fest, and the event was expanded to include everyone in the community.
Harvest Fest Activities
Harvest Fest is a celebration of Fall through a variety of activities for the whole family including:
- Food: Hot dogs, chili, beverages, and tamales will be served for free! There will also be candy for kids!
- Games: There will be a variety of games for kids of all ages, including cornhole, ring toss, and bean bag toss.
- Pony rides: Pony rides will be available for kids.
- Balloons for kids: Kids can get a free balloon animal from a balloon twister.
- Bounce house: Kids can jump to their heart’s content in the bounce house.
- Hay rides: Take a hay ride around the church property and enjoy the fall scenery.
Parking and Accessibility
There is ample parking available in the church’s east and west parking lots. All of the activities at Harvest Fest are wheelchair and stroller accessible. There will even be a handicapped-accessible port-a-potty available
Weather Considerations
Harvest Fest is an outdoor event, so it’s important to dress accordingly. The event will be canceled if it rains.
