The weather is warming up, the days are getting longer, and that can only mean one thing: baseball season is upon us! If you’re looking for a fun and affordable way to spend a spring or summer evening, head to the ballpark for a baseball game!

There are several great places to see a baseball game near Rockford, Illinois!

Rockford Rivets

The closest option is to see the Rockford Rivets play at the Rivets Stadium. The Rivets are a member of the Northwoods League, a collegiate summer baseball league. This means that every player on the Rivets comes from a college baseball team in the US. This season, the players range in age from freshman to juniors. The team plays their home games at Rivets Stadium, which is located in Loves Park, Illinois, just a few minutes outside of Rockford. 

The Rockford Rivets are under new ownership for the 2023 season and plan to breathe new life into the experience by offering new ticket deals, new promotions, and stadium upgrades. 

The Rockford Rivets’ opening game is Monday, May 31st against the Kenosha Kingfish. You can get tickets for any Rivets game here. Tickets start at $12 per person.

Beloit Sky Carp

Another option for a fun night at the ballpark is going to see the Beloit Sky Carp at the ABC Supply Stadium in Beloit, Wisconsin. This stadium is located less than an hour from Rockford, Illinois and holds more than 3,500 fans. 

The Sky Carp are a Class A level Minor League baseball team that serves as Miami Marlins Advanced-A affiliate. This means that players can be farmed from the Sky Carp team to play for the Marlins. Being a minor league team means that you can expect more hits, more runs, and more on-bases at their games.

The Beloit Sky Carp offers a variety of fun theme nights, family days, and promotions throughout their season. This year, they unveiled a Copa de la Diversion alter ego called Paletas de Beloit. They will be playing as this team on May 5, 31, June 29, July 22, and August 27th. Merchandise with an adorable popsicle will be available for purchase.

The Beloit Sky Carp’s opening game is April 9th against the Timber Rattlers. You can get tickets for any Sky Carp game here. Tickets start at $14 per person.

Quad City Bandits

If you don’t mind a drive, you could also see the Quad Cities River Bandits play at Modern Woodmen Park. The River Bandits are a member of the Midwest League, a minor league baseball league. They play their home games at Modern Woodmen Park, which is located in Davenport, Iowa, about an hour and a half drive from Rockford.

The Quad City Bandits also offer a fun promotional schedule with fireworks, giveaways, and more. They also have a Kids Zone located in the stadium that includes several carnival-type rides like a Kidz Koaster, Wind-Up, carousel, Ferris Wheel, train, and bounce houses. Unlimited ride wristbands are available for $15 or you can purchase access to individual rides for $3-6 per ride.

The Quad City Bandits’ opening game is April 7th against the South Bend Cubs. You can get tickets for any Bandits game here. Tickets start at $15 per person.

Madison Mallards

Another option if you’re in the mood for a short road trip is going to see a Madison Mallards game. The Madison Mallards play at the Warner Park Duck Pond, located about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Rockford. 

The Duck Pond can seat more than 6,750 people and includes amenities like the Kids Zone with a playground, bounce house, sandbox, and more. They also offer promotional items throughout the season.

The Madison Mallards’ opening game is May 29th against the Wausau Woodchucks. You can get tickets for any Mallards game here. Tickets start at $6.08 per person.
