What makes it special or worth visiting?
McMahon Park in Beloit is a great place to get that nostalgic feeling of a playground from the 1980s. This small playground has been kept up well and the equipment is free from broken pieces or sharp edges. Kids can enjoy a tall twisty slide and fast metal slide as well as a wobbly wooden bridge. These metal and wood playgrounds are becoming harder and harder to find as they get replaced due to age and safety concerns. If you’d like to show your kids what playgrounds were like in the past, this is a great place to bring them to play. But, remember those metal slides can get very hot!
If you go, you may want to bring:
- Sunscreen – The playground is in full sun
- Water – There is no water fountain nearby
- Picnic lunch – There’s a picnic table with an awning
