We are so grateful for the servicemen and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. If you’d like to celebrate Memorial Day by going to a parade, here’s a list of the ones happening in the Stateline Area for Memorial Day 2021.


When: Monday, May 31 at 10:45 am

Janesville will be holding a silent march down Main Street from Centerway to Traxler Park followed by a ceremony from the patriotic society. People are welcome to participate in the parade, but motorized or wheeled vehicles are not allowed. Masks and social distancing are required.


When: Monday, May 31 at 2 pm

The Pecatonica parade will start at 2 pm. It is the second-largest Memorial Day parade in Illinois. The parade runs through downtown Pecatonica and lasts around 90 minutes.

There is also a carnival happening from May 29 – 31 on West Third Street and Main in downtown Pecatonica. Carnival hours are Saturday and Sunday from 1 pm – 10 pm and Monday from 9 am – 7 pm.


When: Monday, May 31 from 9 am – 12 pm

The Rockford parade will start at 7th Ave. and 6th Ave.and head north to Charles St. then Charles St. to State St. then State to Wyman then Beattie Park where the parade will end.

Once the parade ends at 10 am, there will be a Memorial Day program including comments from Winnebago County Board Chairman Joseph Chiarelli, presentations from Todd Burton with the Department of Defense, and Shelley Johnson, and a dove release. There will also be an annual riverside Sinking of the Ship ceremony including a 21 gun salute behind the Luther Center at 113 N Wyman St.


When: Monday, May 31 at 9 am

The Rockton parade will begin at 9 am on Blackhawk Blvd. on the south side of the bridge over the Rockton River and head north to the Rockton Township cemetery. There will be a short ceremony afterward.

Canceled Memorial Day Parades for 2021

South Beloit / Beloit parade has been postponed until 2022.

Belvidere has canceled their parade but will have a Memorial Service at 10 am at the Boone County VFW Post 1461 located at 1310 W. Lincoln Avenue.

Loves Park has canceled their parade, fireworks, and Young at Heart Festival.

Roscoe has canceled their parade.
