
We’re lucky to have several great berry picking farms in the Rockford area offering a bunch of different fruit options. Throughout the spring, summer and early fall different items become ready to pick.
Berry season tends to be short with each berry only hanging around for a few weeks. If you want to go berry picking, you need to move fast! Here’s a growing schedule for berries in the greater Rockford area.
Berry Growing Schedule in the Rockford Area
Early summer (usually around 2-4 week of June or early July): Strawberries
Mid-late summer (usually around the second week of July onward): Blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and peaches
Late summer (usually around late July through end of August): Tomatoes, corn, vegetables

U-Pick Farms in the Rockford Area

Skelly’s Farm Market
2713 S. Hayner Rd., Janesville, WI
At Skelly’s Farm Market, you can pick strawberries and buy delicious strawberry pies, jam and donuts.
Picking season usually starts in early June and runs until they are out of strawberries (usually 2 weeks). Check their Facebook page before you go. They can sell out of pick your own quickly in the morning.

Valley Orchard
811 E. State St. Cherry Valley, IL
At Valley Orchard in Cherry Valley, you can pick cherries and raspberries in the summer and fall, blueberries, currants and blackberries.
Cherries should be ready by late June and the other berries should be ready by early July.
Cherry season will likely be at the end of June. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for more details.
Hours: 9 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Saturday
10 am – 4:30 pm on Sunday
Granny’s Berries
3405 S. White Rock Rd., Rochelle, IL
Granny’s Berries in Rochelle, you can pick raspberries and blueberries in the summer and fall.

Blueberry season is anticipated for late June. Check their Facebook page for daily updates.
Hours: 8 am – 4 pm
Curran’s Orchard
6385 Kilburn Ave, Rockford, IL
At Curran’s Orchard in Rockford, you can pick cherries (June – July) and raspberries in the late summer and early fall.
Cherry picking season is anticipated for late June. Check their Facebook page for daily updates.
Hours: Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 4 pm while cherry picking season lasts.
Edwards Apple Orchard
7061 Centerville Rd. Poplar Grove, IL
At Edward’s Apple Orchard in Poplar Grove, you can pick raspberries beginning in September until it frosts.
