
Hurricane Harbor Rockford is a 43 acre waterpark where you can spend the whole day having fun in the sun! The water park was under operation as Magic Waters from 1988 until 2020 when Six Flags bought the establishment. Here’s what you need to know if you want to spend a day at the waterpark this summer.
Hurricane Harbor Rockford Opening Date
Hurricane Harbor Rockford opens on Memorial Day weekend.
Hours are 11 am – 5 pm on the weekends only until June 11th when the park opens daily from 11 am – 5 pm until August 11th. From that point until their closing day on September 2nd, they will be open only on weekends again.

Hurricane Harbor Rockford Pricing in 2024
If you’re used to Magic Waters’ pricing and deals, you may find Hurricane Harbor’s pricing to be a bit high, but it is comparable to other Six Flags locations.
2024 One Day Ticket prices: $25 – 37
Season passes and memberships: Price varies but starts around $129 for season passes. Monthly payment plans are available for season passes. More about season passes and memberships here.
Parking is $15 per car
Cabana rentals are available and start at $75. You can also rent chairs for $10.
Dining deals are available for between $21 – 45 per person and all-day drinks are available for $20 each.
Please note: Hurricane Harbor only takes card payments inside the park. There are cash-to-card devices in the park.


Hurricane Harbor Rockford Attractions

Hurricane Harbor Rockford has 12 slides including the Tidal Wave, the Midwest’s first tailspin waterslide. There are also seven places to get something to eat or a sweet treat. Inside of the park, there’s also a shopping area called Island Traders that sells clothes, candy, and more.
If you have little kids, there are three places you’ll want to check out.

Little Lagoon – This is the perfect place for babies and toddlers. There are cute animals to climb on, a shallow pool to splash in and swings. Kids under 42 inches can play in this area.

Caribbean Cove – This is the place for preschoolers and up. It’s a huge playground with water features throughout and a giant bucket that dumps 1,000 gallons of water every ~10-15 minutes.

Castaway Creek – When you want to take a break, relax and float down the lazy river or get out of your tube and splash around.
There are also many thrilling rides for bigger kids and adults including:

Riptide Rush – A seven-story body slide you can race down with a friend. You must be 48 inches tall to ride.

Paradise Pipelines – Two four-story tube slides that give you a great view of the park. You must be 36 inches to ride with an adult on a double tube and 42 inches to ride alone.

The Abyss – A tube slide ride that takes you into pitch darkness. You must be 36 inches to ride with an adult on a double tube and 42 inches to ride alone.

Bermuda Triangle – A body slide with your pick of three slides that are either fast or curvy. You must be 42 inches to ride.

Typhoon Terror – A four-person tube ride where you spin in a funnel.

Tidal Wave – A two-person tube ride where you will go through three high-speed turns, reaching up to 15 miles per hour. You will also go through a tube with amazing Aqualucent special effects during your 43-foot descent. You must be 42 inches to ride.

Wipeout – A fast and furious body slide where you reach up to 37 miles per hour of speed. You must be 48 inches to ride.

No visit to Hurricane Harbor would be complete with a dip in the giant wave pool, Tsunami Bay.
