Illnesses are especially unwelcome during this time of year.

With holiday gatherings, kids’ activities, and winter break plans, it’s important to get well quickly.

To help make receiving care easier than ever, SSM Health Express Virtual Care options are available from 6 am – 11 pm, every day of the week.

“Express Virtual Care is great because it’s affordable, extremely convenient, and can be used in a variety of situations,” said Dr. David Ottenbaker, SSM Health Wisconsin’s Vice President of Ambulatory Clinical Programs.

Express Virtual Care is available to all community members regardless of where they typically receive their medical care, with or without insurance.

Patients ages 2+ can receive help for conditions ranging from allergies to colds, coughs, flu, sinus infections, UTIs, head lice, pink eye, and much more.

“There is often no need to be seen in-person for diagnosing of these conditions, and SSM Health Express Virtual Care is available whenever and wherever your family needs it,” Ottenbaker said.

There are two options for SSM Health Express Virtual Care:

E-visits

  • E-visits involve filling out a short questionnaire to address minor medical needs.
  • After completing the form online and sharing your symptoms, you’ll be contacted by an SSM Health provider to discuss your health care plan and any medication or follow-up needed.
  • The cost for an E-visit is $39, or possibly less if using insurance. Hours of availability are 6 am – 11 pm, every day of the week.

Video Visits

  • Video Visits connect patients with an SSM Health provider via live video conference. They can be used to address urgent and non-urgent medical needs. Video Visits are a great way to show rashes, sore throats, or coughs.
  • The cost for a Video Visit is $59, or possibly less if using insurance. Hours of availability are 6 am – 11 pm, every day of the week.

If SSM Health Express Virtual Care is used and an in-person exam is determined necessary for diagnosis, there will be no charge for the online visit.

“By utilizing virtual options instead of heading to Urgent Care or Emergency Rooms for routine needs, you’re likely to reduce your overall health care costs and save a lot of time,” Ottenbaker said.

Virtual Care is not to be used in case of emergency. For emergencies, dial 911 or visit the closest emergency room.
