Fourth of July fireworks are bigger and better this year in the Stateline than ever before! Here’s a list of the fireworks celebrations happening throughout the Stateline.

Places to See Fireworks on Saturday, July 1st, 2023

Independence Celebration in Downtown Amboy
227 E Main St, Amboy, IL

When: 4 pm – 9:30 pm

Cost: Free admission

Amboy’s Independence Celebration will have live music, bounce houses, bubble stations, face painting, and more. Fireworks will start at dusk (approximately 9:30 pm).


Red, White and Boom! at Rockford Speedway
9572 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL

When: 7 pm – 10 pm
Fireworks after the race

Cost: Tickets start at $25 for adults, $20 for kids 12-17, $10 for kids 6-11 and $5 for kids 5 and under. Get tickets here.

Rockford Speedway offers car racing and a fireworks show at dusk. You can see this fireworks show from various locations around the Speedway. Wentland Park is currently closed for renovations.

In 2021, the fireworks didn’t begin until 10:30 pm.


Star Spangled Saturday at Traxler Park
600 N Main St., Janesville, WI

When: 3 pm – 10 pm

Cost: Free admission

The Star Spangled Saturday at Traxler Park includes a bunch of fun events including free pontoon rides from 3 pm – 5 pm, free amusement rides, a bags tournament, kids games, live music, a ski show from the Rock Aqua Jays at 7 pm, and fireworks at dusk.

Places to See Fireworks on Sunday, July 2nd, 2023

Rochelle’s Fourth of July Fest
10th Avenue and 20th St., Rochelle, IL

When: 4 pm – 10 pm

Cost: Free

Food vendors open at 4 pm, the municipal band takes the stage at 8 pm, and fireworks start at dusk. There will be music by 102.3 The Coyote.


Byron Fireworks at Byron Dragway
7287 N River Rd., Byron, IL

When: 6 pm – 10 pm

Cost: Free

Enjoy a 20 minute fireworks show for the whole family. There will be food and ice cream vendors on site.


Crystal Lake Fireworks at Crystal Lake Main Beach
300 Lakeshore Dr., Crystal Lake, IL

When: Dusk

Cost: $5 per person / kids 3 and under are free (admission charged after 2:30 pm)

Fireworks will be at dusk at Crystal Lake Main Beach.

Places to See Fireworks on Monday, July 3rd, 2023

Davis Junction Fireworks and Movies in the Park at Community Park
101 Lincoln Ave., Davis Junction, IL

When: Fireworks start at dusk, movie starts after fireworks end

Cost: Free

Davis Junction’s Fireworks and Movie in the Park features fireworks and the movie, Yogi Bear. Bring your own chair or blanket. There will be a concession stand with items available for purchase.


Spirit at ’76 at Rockford Speedway

When: 7 pm – 10 pm
Fireworks after the race

Winnebago Fireworks at Winnebago Park District
N. Church St., Winnebago, IL

When: Dusk (~9 pm)

Cost: Free

Fireworks will be shot off behind the baseball diamonds off N. Church Street near the Dylan Mastroianni Memorial playgrounds.


Edgerton Fireworks at Racetrack Park
900 Stoughton Rd., Edgerton, WI

When: 4 pm – 12 am (fireworks at dusk)

Cost: Free

Edgerton Lions Club will host a Fest and Fireworks celebration with live music, a petting zoo, chicken bingo, and more. There will be food and beverages available for purchase.


Dixon Fireworks at the Riverfront
77 S. Hennepin Ave., Dixon, IL

When: 9:30 pm

Cost: Free

Dixon fireworks will happen during the Petunia Festival that goes on from June 30 – July 4. The fireworks will be shot off at the riverfront. You can view a schedule of events for Petunia Fest here.

Places to see Fireworks on July 4th, 2023

Pop on the Rocks – City of Beloit Fireworks at Riverside Park
1160 Riverside Dr., Beloit, WI

When: Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra will play at 7:30 pm before the fireworks start at dusk

Cost: Free

Watch the fireworks and listen to an Independence Day Concert by the Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra back at Riverside Park for the first time since 2019!


Rockford Fireworks at Davis Park
320 S Wyman St, Rockford, IL

When: 4 pm – 10 pm
Gates open at 4 pm and closes at 9:15 pm

Cost: $5 per person, kids 5 and under are free

These fireworks are viewable from many places in the Rockford area, but the best viewing is in Davis Park. There will be a free kids area with games and characters and live entertainment happening in the park. Food vendors will be there with food and drink for purchase. All city parking lots and garages are open and free of charge on July 4th. There are live performances happening in other areas of Rockford during the day. See the full schedule here.


Rhythm and Booms Festival at Schilberg Park
301 W. High St., Milton, WI

When: 11 am – 11 pm (fireworks at 9 pm)

Cost: Free admission

Milton will have a Rhythm and Boom festival from June 30 – July 4th. It includes a farmers market, carnival, live music, and more. You can see a list of events here.


Cherry Valley Fireworks at Baumann Park
218 S. Walnut St., Cherry Valley, IL

When: Dusk (~9:30 pm)

Cost: Free

Cherry Valley has a Fourth of July celebration that includes a parade at Village Hall at 1 pm. Kids can decorate bikes or anything with wheels and arrive at Village Hall at 12:45 pm to line up. Fireworks start at dusk at Baumann Park.


Kirkland Fourth of July Celebration at Franklin Township Park
201 3rd St., Kirkland, IL

When: 10 am  – 10 pm

Cost: Free

Kirkland’s Fourth of July celebration is a three day event from July 1 – 4. There will be live music, a tractor show, bags tournament, parade and fireworks. You can see a schedule of events here. Fireworks will take place at dusk on July 4th and are the largest show in Northern Illinois.


Sharon Fireworks at Goodland Memorial Park
Church St., Sharon, WI

When: 12:30 pm – 10 pm

Cost: Free

Sharon kicks off the day with a big wheel race for kids at 9 am, a parade at 11 am, and live music. There will be vendors and food for purchase. Fireworks are at dusk.


Rockford Country Club Fireworks at Oxford Park
2420 Oxford, Rockford, IL

When: 4:30 pm – dusk

Cost: Free

Oxford Park is the perfect place to view the Rockford Country Club fireworks. There will be Kona Ince on site and a kids bike parade at 5:30 pm. Bring your own chairs and blankets.


Rockford Rivets Fireworks at Rockford Rivets Stadium
4503 Interstate Blvd., Loves Park, IL

When: 6:35 pm – 10 pm

Cost: $13 per person (includes baseball game)

The Rockford Rivets will be playing on July 4th. They are offering a special $13 ticket deal that includes a hot dog, soda, and post-game fireworks. Get tickets here.


Woodstock Fireworks at Emricson Park
1313 Kishwaukee Valley Rd., Woodstock, IL

When: 7 pm – 10 pm

Cost: $10 per car

Woodstock will have a large fireworks show in Emricson Park. The parking fee is $10 per car.


Durand’s 4th of July Festival at Durand Schools
200 W. South St., Durand, IL

When: 8 am – 10 pm

Cost: Free

Durand has a whole day of activities including a parade, bags tournament, 5K, and more. See a list of events here. Fireworks will be at dusk at the school grounds.

Places to see Fireworks on July 8th, 2023

Tutty Baker Fest in downtown Freeport
110 W Main St., Freeport, IL

When: Dusk

Cost: Free

Freeport has a weekend-long celebration happening from July 7 – 9 with a carnival, run, and lots more. Fireworks are shot off on July 8th at dusk.



Fireworks Displays That Were Canceled in 2023

Harvard, Illinois’ yearly Red, White and Blue Feastival will not be happening.

Places to Buy Fireworks in the Stateline

If you’d like to buy some fireworks for a celebration of your own, check out these fireworks stores in Wisconsin.

Illinois does not allow handheld fireworks, bottle rockets, firecrackers, etc. They do allow sparklers, glow worms, smoke devices, and trick noisemakers. Wisconsin allows you to buy all types of fireworks, but you need a permit to shoot them off. Have fun and be safe!
