From December 27 through January 7, 2023, the Beloit Public Library is home to a very special guest – Donkey Hodie!

The brand new Donkey Hodie Pop-Up exhibit is making its first stop on its national tour at the Beloit Public Library. The exhibit is on loan from Fred Rogers Productions after debuting at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.

This children’s museum-style exhibit is hands-on and offers opportunities for kids to get active, solve puzzles, and be creative. The exhibit is geared towards toddlers through early elementary-age students. It is completely FREE for families to visit. You don’t need to be a Beloit Public Library cardholder or live in the city, to attend.

The exhibit is open from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm and 3 pm – 7 pm.

The Donkey Hodie exhibit consists of six parts:

Hoof Dancing with Donkey Hodie – Kids can put on a pair of donkey hooves and try to complete a dance sequence to the tune of an original Donkey Hodie song.

3-2-1 Blast Off! with Purple Panda – Kids can navigate Purple Panda’s spaceship to the purple planet.

Make Your Own Puppet with Harriett Elizabeth Cow – Kids can choose a character from Donkey Hodie to color and create a hand puppet to take home or they can create a puppet of their own face.

Bob-stacle Course with Bob Dog – Kids can try their luck at carrying a ball on a bone through the obstacle course.

Treasure Chest with Duck Duck – Kids can twist knobs and push buttons to take a Duck Duck coin through the Treasure chest.

Fastest Path with Duck Duck – Kids can use Duck Duck coins to race each other and figure out which path is the fastest.

Plan to visit the Donkey Hodie exhibit for at least 30 minutes though you could stay much longer. We spent an hour enjoying the games, making puppets, and reading several books in the cozy reading tent. Don’t forget to check out the fantastic children’s section while you’re at the library. It has areas for imaginative play, a giant Connect Four, fish tank, and more!
