Looking for something fun to do with your kids for New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day? This year the options are a bit more limited, but there are still some events happening to ring in the New Year!

These events happen during the day so your kids can celebrate the New Year without having to stay up until midnight!

Noon Year’s Eve Skate

Where: Carlson Ice Arena
4150 N. Perryville Rd., Loves Park, IL

When: Friday, December 31, 2021 from 10 am – 2 pm

Cost: $8 per person (includes admission to Sapora Playworld and skate rental)
$7 per person for ice skating only which includes skate rental

Details: Have a ball at the Noon Year’s Celebration at Carlson Ice Arena and Sapora Playworld. There will be a balloon drop at 12 pm, music from a DJ, party favors, and meal deals.

Science Through Time

Where: Burpee Museum of Natural History
737 N. Main St., Rockford, IL

When: Friday, December 31, 2021 from 10 am – 4 pm

Cost: $14 per adult / $12 per youth / kids 3 and under are free

Details: Walk through the recently updated and renovated Burpee Museum and learn about how science has developed over the years. Make your own science crafts and more.

Cosmic New Years Eve Bowling Party

Where: Don Carter Lanes
4007 E. State St., Rockford, IL

When: Friday, December 31, 2021 from 12 pm – 2:30 pm or 4 pm – 6:30 pm

Cost: $99.99 – 129 per lane

Details: Ring in the new year with unlimited bowling for up to six people, shoe rental, unlimited pizza and soda, and party favors.

“Noon” Years Eve

Janesville Jets vs. Anchorage Wolverines

Where: Janesville Ice Arena
821 Beloit Ave., Janesville, WI

When: Friday, December 31, 2021 from 7 pm – 10 pm

Cost: $7-9 per adult / free for kids

Details: Watch the Janesville Jets take on the Anchorage Wolverines. There are food and beverages available.

New Year’s Day Hike

Where: Severson Dells Nature Center
8786 Montague Rd., Rockford, IL

When: Saturday, January 1, 2022 from 10 am – 11:30 am

Cost: $3 per member / $ per non-member

Details: Take a hike with director Ann Wasser and embrace nature and the New Year.

New Noon Balloon Drop

Where: Coral Cove Family Fun Center
586 Progressive Ln., South Beloit, IL

When: Saturday, January 1, 2022 from 11:30 am – 9 pm

Cost: Free admission

Details: Enjoy a balloon drop at noon with prizes including tickets, tokens, treats, and toys. Get half-price slushies and buy one get one 50% off bounce passes.

Winter Dazzle Day

Where: Nature at the Confluence
306 Dickop St., South Beloit, IL

When: Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 1 pm – 3 pm

Cost: Free

Details: Enjoy an outdoor hike, make a pine cone bird feeder, try snowshoeing (limited shoes available), learn about Phenology, do a tree bark rubbing, and enjoy a fire and roasting marshmallows.

Want to see some Chrismtas lights on NYE?

It’s the last day you can drive through the Festival of Lights in Sinnissippi Park in Rockford. The lights will be on from 5 pm – 12 am.

The Nicholas Conservatory lights in Rockford will be on from dusk until dawn. The park closes at 10 pm.
