There are two shows each night, one at 9 pm and one at 10:30 pm. Parking opens at 7 pm for the 9 pm show. Be sure to get there early so you can get a good spot!

No matter where your car is parked, you’ll be able to see the laser show as the lights reach across the entire Fairgrounds and the large screens are visible from every angle.

The drive-in show can be viewed from the comfort of your car or you can set up chairs or blankets in front of your car.

Parking was expertly handled by a team that instructed you where to go when you arrived. They left plenty of space to set up chairs and blankets in front of your car.

We were parked in the VIP section which we thought was definitely worth the extra charge. In the VIP section, you have a better view and there is more room to dance and run around.

When the light show started, it was raining, but we were told that rain enhances the lasers. It sure did! The falling rain made the lights sparkle and look like they were filled with glitter. We got the best of both worlds because the rain stopped after about 10 minutes and we were able to enjoy the rest of the show outside. Families were dancing, singing, and having a great time all around us.

The show includes a mix of different genres of music including classic songs from Queen and Pink Floyd as well as country hits, pop music, rock, and rap. The music plays from speakers near the lasers and you’re able to tune in with your radio dial to hear the music in your car. There are lasers in every color you can imagine, a fog machine, and effects that make the lasers look like clouds in the sky. There are also two large screens that display lyrics and characters like Groot and Minions during the songs. The entire light show is about one hour long. It started at 9:10 pm and was wrapped up by 10:05 pm. We were able to quickly pack up and leave the fairgrounds within 10 minutes of the show ending.

Our whole family had a great time at the show! It was fast-paced, fun and the perfect length for an outing with kids. Our kids (7 and 4) really enjoyed staying up late and dancing outside to the music and we loved hearing songs we hadn’t heard in years as well as recent hits. We would recommend spending a little more to get the VIP seating so you feel closer to the show.

If you can’t make the Woodstock show this weekend, there will also be shows in Grayslake, Illinois (1.5 hours from Rockford) from July 22 – 25th and Madison, Wisconsin (1 hour from Rockford) from August 12 – 15th.
