Fourth of July fireworks shows are back in the Stateline this summer! Here’s a list of the celebrations happening throughout the Stateline.
July 2nd
Shirland Fireworks
Corner of Boswell and Shirland Rd., Shirland, IL
When: Fireworks start at dusk (~9 pm)
Cost: Free
Shirland Fireworks display is planned for July 2nd with a raindate of July 9th.
July 3rd
Davis Junction Fireworks and Movies in the Park at Community Park
101 Lincoln Ave., Davis Junction, IL
When: Fireworks start at dusk, movie starts after fireworks end
Cost: Free
Davis Junction’s Fireworks and Movie in the Park features fireworks and the movie, Tom and Jerry. Bring your own chair or blanket. There will be a concession stand with items available for purchase.
Amboy Fireworks Family Event 2021 in Downtown Amboy
227 E Main St, Amboy, IL
When: 2 pm – 10 pm
Cost: Free
Amboy’s Fireworks Family event will have a bouncy house, superheroes, face painting and emergency vehicle rides from 2 pm – 7 pm. They will have fireworks at dusk along with live music.

Rockford Speedway Fireworks at Rockford Speedway
9572 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL
When: 7 pm – 10 pm
Fireworks after the race
Cost: Tickets start at $25 for adults, $20 for kids 12-17, $10 for kids 6-11 and $2 for kids 5 and under. Get tickets here.
Rockford Speedway offers car racing and a fireworks show at dusk. You can see this fireworks show from various locations around the Speedway including Wentland Park (Project Playworks).

Winnebago Fireworks
Winnebago Middle School

When: Dusk (~9 pm)
Cost: Free
Winnebago will have a parade at 10 am on July 4th, but the fireworks show will be on July 3rd.
July 4th
Fireworks at Beloit Snappers Game at Pohlman Field
2301 Skyline Dr., Beloit, WI
When: Gates open at 7 pm
Beloit Symphony Orchestra will play at 7:45 pm
Cost: Free
Watch the fireworks and listen to an Independence Day Concert by the Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra at 7:45 pm. Once the stadium is full, people will be directed to Tefler Park.
Rockford Fireworks at Davis Park
320 S Wyman St, Rockford, IL
When: 4 pm – 10 pm
Gate opens at 4 pm and closes at 9:15 pm
Cost: $5 per person, kids 5 and under are free
These fireworks are viewable from many places in the Rockford area, but the best viewing is in Davis Park. There will be a free kids area with bounce house and games and live entertainment happening in the park. Food vendors will be there with food and drink for purchase including Olivo Taco, Wrapped with Smoke BBQ, DnA Concessions, and Pizza Fresca.

Rockford County Club Fireworks

Rockford Country Club will be doing a fireworks show this year. You can see these fireworks from the Edgewater neighborhood.
Cherry Valley Fireworks at Baumann Park
218 S. Walnut St., Cherry Valley, IL
When: Dusk (~9:30 pm)
Cost: Free
Cherry Valley has a Fourth of July celebration that includes a parade at Village Hall at 1 pm. Kids can decorate bikes or anything with wheels and arrive at Village Hall at 12:45 pm to line up. All participants will receive a prize. Fireworks start at dusk at Baumann Park.
Durand Fireworks at Durand High School
200 W. South St., Durand, IL
When: Dusk
Cost: Free
Durand has a UMC Fun Fair happening from July 3-4 which includes bean bag tournament, BBQ, street dance, parades and more. Fireworks start at dusk on the 4th.
Independence Day on the Rock at Traxler Park
600 N. Main St., Janesville, WI
When: 3 pm – 10 pm
Cost: Free
Janesville’s Firework festival includes live music, food and beverages for purchase, and a Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Show followed by fireworks at dusk (approximately 9:20 pm).

Rochelle’s Fourth of July Fest
10th Avenue and 20th St., Rochelle, IL
When: 5 – 10 pm
Cost: Free
Rochelle has a Fourth of July parade kicking off at 1 pm, followed by festivities in Cooper Park from 5 – 10 pm and fireworks and music at dusk.
Kirkland Fourth of July Celebration at Franklin Township Park
201 3rd St., Kirkland, IL
When: 10 am – 10 pm
Cost: Free
Kirkland’s Fourth of July celebration is a three day event from July 2 – 4. There will be live music including Lainey Wilson on Friday ($15 per ticket), Back Country Roads on Saturday ($10 per ticket), a tractor show, water fights, parade and fireworks. Fireworks will take place at dusk on July 4th and are the largest show in Northern Illinois.
Long Play Fireworks at Rockford Rivets Stadium
4503 Interstate Blvd., Loves Park, IL
When: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at dusk
Cost: $20 per adult, free for kids 12 and under. Get tickets here
Long Play Music festival is at Rockford Rivets stadium this Fourth of July weekend. There will be food, a carnival, fireworks for four days, and live music from Cheap Trick, Gin Blossoms, and Jeff Tweedy. On Thursday, July 1st, there will be a baseball game followed by fireworks.
Canceled Fireworks Displays
Freeport will not be having a fireworks display in 2021.
Places to Buy Fireworks in the Stateline
If you’d like to buy some fireworks for a celebration of your own, check out these fireworks stores in Wisconsin.
Illinois does not allow handheld fireworks, bottle rockets, firecrackers, etc. They do allow sparklers, glow worms, smoke devices, and trick noisemakers. Wisconsin allows you to buy all types of fireworks, but you need a permit to shoot them off. Have fun and be safe!
