Memorial Day weekend 2020 in the Rockford area will look different than in years past. Even though many events have been canceled, things are starting to open up in Illinois and Wisconsin. We have some fun ideas for how to spend your stormy Memorial Day weekend.

What’s NOT Happening on Memorial Day Weekend in Rockford

All Memorial Day parades have been canceled.

The Miracle Mile Car Show has been canceled.

Illinois and Wisconsin are still under stay at home / safer at home orders.

What You CAN Do on Memorial Day Weekend in Rockford

Grill up some local meat from Cattle + Cream (Cherry Valley), Main Street Meat (Roscoe), Pinnon (Rockford, Beloit), Meads Meats (Rockford), or 640 Meats (Loves Park).

Grab a six pack of beer or a growler of your favorite brew from Prairie Street Brewhouse (Rockford), G5 Brewing (Beloit), Hairy Cow (Byron), or Pig Minds (Machesney Park). If you don’t eat meat, be sure to check out Pig Minds tasty vegan options that even non-vegans will enjoy!

Enjoy a sweet treat from one of the many ice cream shops open for business in the Stateline.

Listen to a classical guitar concert from Thomas Aquino on Friday at 7 pm. Listen to the concert on Facebook and make a donation to PayPal to benefit the University of Chicago Laboratory School’s Zeke Upshaw Memorial Fund.

Celebrate baseball and teamwork with Queen Princess Events on Saturday at 4 pm. Watch on Facebook

Watch a live concert of piano bar songs performed live by John Zam on Saturday at 6 pm. Tickets are $20 for this Zoom concert.
