
Looking to have some fun outdoors this winter? Bring the family to Yeti Fest in Rockton! This four day festival of family-fun runs from January 30 – February 2, 2019. This is the fourth year of Yeti Fest and it’s better than ever with new activities and events like Yeti Scavenger Hunt and a Hot Chocolate Crawl. All events are low-cost or free!

Wednesday, January 30, 2019

Giant Community Snow Fort at Settlers Park
200 Hawick St, Rockton, IL
When: Wednesday, January 30 at 12 pm – Saturday, February 2 at 12 pm
Cost: Free
Head over to Settlers Park to build a huge snow fort with the community! There will be a limited amount of brick forms available so please bring your own tools and supplies. The snow fort will be there the entire weekend to expand and play in.

Get Ready for the Yeti Storyhour at Talcott Free Library
101 E. Main St., Rockton, IL
When: 10:00 am – 11:00 am and 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm
Cost: Free
Warm up in the library and listen to a story all about Yetis and do a craft! Story hour for ages 3 and up. This story hour will also be held Tuesday, January 29 at 10 am.

Snow Sculpture Carving at Settlers Park
200 Hawick St, Rockton, IL
When: Wednesday, January 30 – Saturday, February 2
Cost: Free
Throughout the weekend, you can watch snow sculptures being carved at Settlers Park. There will be hot drinks and a heated tented at the Settlers Park so everyone can enjoy the snow sculptures as well as marshmallow roasting from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm provided by Sugar Britches. Awards for the best snow sculptures will be given out at the chili lunch at the American Legion on February 3 from 11 am – 2 pm.

Yeti Scavenger Hunt in Downtown Rockton
When: Wednesday, January 30 at 10 am – Saturday, February 2 at 5 pm
Cost: Free
Head to downtown Rockton to search for plush Yetis in downtown businesses! Each Yeti will have a name on its scarf. Print off a scavenger card posted in the Facebook event and write down the Yeti’s name at each location. Turn in your completed card at your last location and you’ll be entered to win a cool prize! You have all four days of the Yeti Fest to complete your hunt.

Free Spirit Sled Demo Team at Settlers Park
200 Hawick St, Rockton, IL
When: 4 pm – 8 pm
Mushing demos at 4:30 pm, 5:30 pm, and 6:30 pm.
Cost: Free
Head to Settlers Park to see the Spirit Sled Demo Team (dog sled team) do mushing demos. Meet the dogs and trainers.

Free Marshmallow Roasting at Settlers Park

When: 6:30 pm – 8 pm
Cost: Free
Enjoy a delicious roasted marshmallow and warm up in the heated festival tent.

Yeti Hunt at Settlers Park
200 Hawick St, Rockton, IL
When: 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Cost: Free
Head to Settlers Park to try to catch the Rockton Yeti! Meet at the flagpole and follow the luminary path to hunt for him. Get a picture with him and post it to the Rockton Yeti Fest Facebook page to be entered into a drawing for prizes!

Onesie Pub Crawl *Adults only* in Downtown Rockton
When: 7:00 pm – 12:00 am
Cost: Free to participate, cost of drinks and food
After you have fun with the family, get a babysitter and head back out for the Onesie Pub Crawl. Put on some onesie pajamas and pick up a stamp card at one of the participating locations. The crawl starts at 7 pm and has seven stops – Rookie’s, Fibs, Ye Olde Pub, Rockton Inn, Pokie’s, The American Legion, and the heated tent at Settler’s Park. You can start and finish anywhere.

Food and Drink for Purchase in Settlers Park
When: 10 am – 4 pm
Stop by Settlers Park to get some food and drink from Mary’s Market, FIBS, and The Olive Branch food truck!
Hot Chocolate Crawl in Downtown Rockton
When: Begins at 1:00 pm
Cost: $5 – SOLD OUT
Take a stroll through Rockton and try a wide variety of hot chocolates! Enjoy hot cocoa from local vendors in a special Yeti themed mug. Though this event sold out, you can still stop by local businesses and get cocoa for free or a minimal charge.
