Who says you need to be near an ocean to enjoy a beach? The Stateline has a few options for beach days all within a 30-minute drive of Rockford. Grab your beach chair and umbrella and head out to one of these beaches in Loves Park, Byron, South Beloit and Janesville. Don’t forget the sand toys!

Olson Lake is a natural 50 acre lake with a sand beach located in Rock Cut State Park.
Open 12 pm – 7 pm daily through September 3
Cost: $5 for anyone 48 inches and taller, $2.50 for anyone under 48 inches. Children 3 and younger are free.
8840 North Illinois Rt. 2, Byron, IL
Lake Louise is a clear 14-acre spring-fed lake with natural sand beaches. The location also has a kiddie beach, pool and a hot tub.
Open 10 am – 6 pm daily through September 3
Cost: $6 per person, children 6 and under are free
1220 Dearborn Ave, South Beloit, IL
Pearl Lake is a super clean man-made lake with clear waters and a large sand beach. There is also a concession stand selling food and drinks.
Open 10 am – 5 pm daily until September 3
Cost: $15 per person, children 5 and under are free
Note: There must be one adult per two children under the age of 12.

Lions Beach is a large lake with a sand beach. There is no lifeguard on duty.

Fontana Beach is a clean lake with a sand beach.

Troll Beach has clean city water, zero depth entry, a sand beach and many large inflatable play structures in the water. There’s a large shallow area and a deep area that’s 12 ft.
