Bring the family out to the country to find fun, enjoy the benefits of being outdoors in fresh air and nature while engaging in safe recreational activities, and make memories at Rockford Park District’s Lockwood Park, 5201 Safford Rd. in northwest Rockford.

Activities are available Saturdays, 10 am-4 pm, through October 29, 2022 (weather permitting), and include wagon rides through the park’s scenic meadows and woods ($4 per person, departing every 30 minutes), and free Children’s Farm Barn visits. Due to a transition period with the park’s horse herd, public trail rides will not be available for the 2022 season.

New this year – the hands-on Pony Experience, which includes getting up close and personal with a pony or small horse to build a greater connection through a variety of activities offered each week; the fee is $8 per person. New Youth Trail Class for ages 10-16 is scheduled for four-week 90-minute classes on Saturday afternoons, July-October, 2022, for $143 ($173 non-resident) per session; register at least one week prior to each session’s start date at https://lockwoodpark.com/rides.
