Looking for something fun to do with your kids for New Year’s Eve in the Rockford area? There are many events happening during the day so your kids can celebrate the new year without having to stay up until midnight!
All of these events are happening on Tuesday, December 31st.

New Years Around The World at Burpee Museum
Where: Burpee Museum of Natural History
737 N. Main Street, Rockford, Illinois 61103
When: 10 am – 4 pm
Cost: $10 adults / $8 children 4 – 8 years old, kids up to 3 are free
Details: Celebrate by making New Year noisemakers, crowns, and wands! Join Burpee to count down to the hourly leaf drop and parade, listening to songs and watching dance performances! Try new traditions yourself, learn a new dance, or come face to face with a live animal from the country of your choice! Pet a tegu from Argentina, watch the eyes of a chameleon from Yemen, or examine a gecko from Madagascar! Guests receive a passport for collecting stamps as they visit the various cultures and participate in many special event activities. Don’t miss the performances of dancing from around the world including Folklorica, Krakowiaczek Polish Dancers, the Swedish Historical Society Lucia Choir, and the Sterling Quartet, and many more!
Noon Year’s Eve Celebration at Carlson Ice Arena
Where: Carlson Ice Arena
4150 N Perryville Rd, Loves Park, IL
When: 10 am – 2 pm
Cost: $8 per person
Details: Carlson Ice Arena will host a Noon Year’s Eve celebration that includes a skate and play special. Kids will have public skate admission, skate rental, and Sapora Playworld admission. There will be a countdown and balloon drop at noon.

Story Hour Noon Year’s Eve at Talcott Free Library
Where: Talcott Free Library
101 E. Main St., Rockton, IL
When: 10 am – 11 am
Cost: Free
Details: Listen to a story from Miss Lisa and Miss Holly and do crafts. Party starts at 10 am, countdown starts at 11 am.

New Year’s Eve Bowling at Forest Hills Lanes
Where: Forest Hills Lanes
7742 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL
When: 11 am – 8 pm
Cost: $10 per person

New Year’s Eve Balloon Drop at Coral Cove
Where: Coral Cove Family Fun Center

When: 12 pm
Cost: FREE
Details: There will be a free balloon drop at 12 pm. Balloons will contain tickets, tokens and more.
Family Cosmic New Year’s Eve Bowling Party at Don Carter Lanes
Where: Don Carter Lanes
4007 E. State St., Rockford, IL
When: 12 pm – 2 pm or 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm
Cost: $75 per lane (1-8 people per lane)
Details: Enjoy two hours of unlimited bowling for everyone on your lane (up to 8 people), shoe rental for all bowlers, 2 pizzas per lane, unlimited pop, and party favors. There will be music and lights and a New Year’s countdown. Register by call 815-399-0314.
New Year’s Eve Cosmic Bowl at Park Lanes

Countdown to Fun at Discovery Center
Where: Discovery Center Museum

When: 12 pm – 4 pm
Cost: $9 per person, kids under 1 are free
Details: Discovery Center will have a New Year’s countdown where kids can design a party hat, create a noisemaker, and get showered with confetti as they countdown to midnight each hour. Included with admission to the museum.

Family Glow Bowling at Diamond Lanes

Cost: $8 per person includes shoe rental
Details: Diamond Lanes will host a family glow bowling celebration. Admission includes bowling and shoe rental.
Family New Year Eve Special Skate at Skateland

When: 2 pm – 4:30 pm
Cost: $7 per person includes shoe rental
