The Rockford area knows how to have fun for Halloween! There are many events happening in the Stateline throughout October in celebration of Halloween. There are parties, outdoor events, parades, costume contests, and more! Unless noted, all of the events below are for kids of all ages and are family-friendly and not scary.

Halloween Parties & Family Events

Village of Davis Junction Fall Party

Where: Davis Junction Fire Department
108 S. Maple St., Davis Junction, IL

When: October 12, 2019

Cost: Free

Bring your family to the annual Village Halloween party. Refreshments will be available.

Cost: Free

Bring a decorated, carved or painted pumpkin to the first annual pumpkin display and contest. Your pumpkin could win a cash prize. First prize by age group is $15, second is $10 and third is $5. Age groups are 0-3, 4-6, 7-10 and 11-14 years old. First 150 youth participants will get a Sip and Sprinkles coupon. Please bring a non-perishable item for donation.

Cost: Free

Enjoy a day of free family fun with hot dogs and chips, face painting, pictures with children’s characters, bounce house, games, pumpkin decorating and more.

Fall Fest

Cost: Free

Come to the Family Worship Center for carnival games, food, face painting, petting zoo, prizes, candy, pumpkin patch and pumpkin decorating station.

Mercyhealth Fall Festival

Where: Mercyhealth Beloit
2825 Prairie Ave., Beloit, WI

When: October 19, 2019
1 – 4 pm

Cost: Free

The Fall Festival includes free bike helmets for the first 100 kids, raffle baskets, games, bounce houses, blow-up basketball hoops, face painting, pumpkin painting, mascots including Snappy the Beloit Snapper and Chilly the Janesville Jet. Kids who wear costumes will be entered to win an iPad Mini and get a coupon for a free scoop at Culver’s.

Cost: Free – Suggested donation of non-perishable food item for Feed the Need Food Drive

Come to the Belvidere YMCA for a family fun event. Activities include DIY caramel apple slice bar, Pick or Treat, Mad Science Lab, Spooky Bingo, Pumpkin Mini Putt, apple Bobbing (with a net), Zombie Eyeball Toss, Halloween Themed Crafts and more.

Spooky Science

Where: Discovery Center Museum

6 – 9 pm

Cost: $5 for members, $10 for the public

Explore the museum and follow the map to find goodies galore from one exhibit to the next! Concoct gooey, glowing, globs of slime, make monstrous crafts, and meet some scientific heroes from beyond the grave. Engage in astonishing science activities that look like mystifying magic, pick up a Nobel Prize, tromp through the park in the dark, and more!

Boo Bash Weekend

Where: Carlson Ice Arena

When: October 25 – 27, 2019
Friday  8 – 10 pm
Saturday  1 – 3 pm
Sunday  2 – 4 pm

Cost: $5 per person on Friday, $8 per person on Saturday and Sunday

Come dressed in your best family friendly costume to ice skate to themed music; children can explore Playworld, the three-level soft indoor playground for ages 1-12 with a Tiny Tots Playspace for ages 1-3, decorated for the weekend. Games, a costume contest, prizes, and DJ music will also be part of each day’s fun. No discount coupons will be accepted for the weekend’s events or activities.

Friday, October 25, 8-10 p.m. – Frosty Fridays public ice skating session: $6 per person including skate rental; costume contest

Saturday, October 26, 1-3 p.m. – Skate and Play Special: $8 per person admission includes public ice skating session admission and skate rental, admission to Sapora Playworld, and a costume contest. Meal deals will be available for purchase.

Spook-Tacular Haunts

Where: Anderson Japanese Gardens

Anderson Japanese Gardens is partnering with Hoo Haven Wildlife Rehab & Education Center and Haunted Rockford for a Halloween event that will be fun for the whole family. Children are invited to come dressed in costume and explore the Garden in a new and spooky way!

Halloween Parades

Downtown Beloit Halloween Parade & Party

Where: Downtown Beloit
500 Public Ave, Beloit, WI

When: October 26, 2019
10 am – 1 pm

Cost: Free

Kids can show off their costumes in a parade down Grand Avenue visiting Downtown Beloit businesses for treats during the last Farmers’ Market of the season. The fun includes live music, entertainment, carnival rides and activities for all ghouls and goblins!

Cherry Valley Halloween Parade

Where: Baumann Park
218 S. Walnut St., Cherry Valley, Illinois

When: October 26, 2019
4 – 5:30 pm

Cost: Free

The parade will start at the tennis courts in Baumann Park and end at Village Hall. There will be costume judging, treats for everyone in costume, and activities for the kids.

Halloween Hayrides

The Enchanted Forest and Hollywood Hayride

Where: Palmer Park

Friday and Saturday 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Cost: Enchanted Forest $3/child, $2/adult
Hollywood Hayride $3/person

The Enchanted Forest and Hollywood Hayride is a non-scary community-wide special event for families with young children. The Enchanted Forest was an award winner at the Wisconsin Parks and Recreation Conference for excellence in recreation programming. The event has evolved over the years to a spectacle like no other in the surrounding area, and is a must-see for families. NEW this year, roaming LED performers will entertain you while you wait in line.

Halloween Trails & Haunted Woods

Family Fun Trail

Where: 4E Family Fun Trail
6688 E Rockton Rd., Roscoe, IL

When: October 5, 12, 19, 26
2 – 8:30 pm

Cost: $5 per person, $20 per family maximum

Take a hayride, roast S’Mores, get a glowstick, play in a tunnel and corn box. Follow pumpkins along a .75 mile trail along a wooded creek to get candy. You walk the trail in daylight or dark with a flashlight. This is a non-scary event.

Kids Trick or Treat Walk

Where: Forest of Freaks
5946 S US Highway 51, Janesville, WI

When: October 12, 2019
3 – 5:30 pm

Cost: $5 per kid

Walk along a 25+ stop candy trail, jump in bounce houses, and ride a horse. There will also be carnival games like ring a bottle, a dunk tank, and a paintball target range. This is a kid-friendly event, all of the other days Forest of Freaks is a haunted house event.
