September is National Baby Month! In honor of this, two large chain stores in the Rockford area are participating in car seat trade in events. Car seat trade in events are a great time to exchange your outdated or unusable car seat for a coupon or gift card towards a brand new one. Here’s what you need to know.

Target

Locations Participating: Rockford and Machesney Park

Target will accept ALL car seats in ANY condition even if it’s expired, broken, or recalled. Bring your car seat to Customer Service to be recycled. They will be disposing of the unusable car seats.

You will get a 20% off coupon for a new car seat, stroller or select baby gear. Coupon is good through September 14, 2019.

Walmart

Trade in dates: September 16 – 21* from open to close

Locations Participating: Roscoe, Beloit, Rockford (Northridge), Rockford (W. Riverside), Rockford (Walton St.), and Belvidere

Walmart will accept car seats in ANY condition even if it’s expired, broken, or recalled, but they will not accept booster seats. Bring your car seat to Customer Service to be recycled. They will be disposing of the unusable car seats.

You will get a $30 gift card per carseat with a limit of two trade ins per household. The gift card doesn’t expire.

UPDATE: Due to an overwhelming response, Walmart is ending the program early on Saturday, September 21st. Local Walmarts will be accepting car seats from open to close until then.

Will you be turning in any old car seats this year?
