There are several events happening in the Rockford area to celebrate the eclipse! We’ve put together a list below.
Solar Eclipse Experience
Kids ages 6-8 and family are welcome to learn about the solar eclipse and pick up solar glasses. Register here.
Eclipse Viewing Party
Participate in activities on the lawn, get free glasses to view the eclipse, enjoy a food truck and more! Doors open at 12:15 pm.
Solar Eclipse Talk with Space Case Sarah
Learn about eclipses, why they occur, and how to safely view one. Space Case Sarah will be speaking at this event and it is open to the public.
Solar Eclipse Preview
Kids can learn about the upcoming eclipse with planetarium shows, solar oven s’mores, experiments, and more. There will also be eclipse glasses handed out.
Annular (Ring) Solar Eclipse Viewing Party
View the eclipse with safety glasses, crackers, and colanders. This event will be canceled if it is overcast.
A Pop-Up Solar Event
Observe the partial solar eclipse and walk through an inflatable planetarium with NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassadors Sarah and Steve.
Spectacular Science: The Annular Eclipse
Learn about the science related to eclipses then go outside and view the annular eclipse at its midpoint. Register here.
