DESCRIPTION:Rockford Park District’s Canine Corners Dog Parks invites the public to enjoy outdoor fun with their dogs at a free “Fall Pawty” open house event scheduled for Saturday\, September 21\, 2024\, from 10 am until 2 pm (rain date: Sept. 22) at the Canine Corners Searls location\, 4950 Safford Rd. (off S. Central Ave.) in northwest Rockford\, IL. \nAmong the event’s activities will be a Rockford Police Department K9 demonstration at 11:00\, a dog costume contest with prizes at noon\, vendors\, and raffle prizes. The Vintage Goose food truck will be on site offering items for purchase. Donations to help with operation and maintenance of the dog parks will be gratefully accepted at the event. DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the woods while walking with your furry best friend! Join Atwood staff and explore the woods\, learn about the wildlife\, and learn about some of the history of the park. Dogs are welcome to join this hike\, but it must be people- and dog-friendly. \nThe hike will be held rain or shine. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather\, and wear comfortable hiking shoes. Participants should bring bug spray\, sunscreen\, and a water bottle for themselves and their dog(s). \nRequirements for dogs: • A current rabies vaccine and visible rabies tag are required for this event. • All dogs must be spayed/neutered. • No flexi or retractable leashes are allowed. • Participants are required to pick up and dispose of their dog’s waste\, and provide water for their dog(s). (Waste bags will not be provided) • Two dogs max\, per person. • Only adults 18 and older may handle dogs for this hike; attendance is open to participants ages 10 and up. \nAny dogs showing signs of or acting aggressively will be asked to leave.
