This event is limited to 50 children. Children will be grouped into two sections of 25 children total. Grouping is done on a first come-first served basis. Spots are unable to be held for those who are not on-site.  \nCost: $2 per child\, age 2-6\, and $2 for caregivers and those 7 and older. Cost includes activities\, admission to Rotary Botanical Gardens and a take home project. \nPlease note: Refunds are not available for this program. SUMMARY:Janesville Kids Triathlon
DESCRIPTION:From Janesville Parks and Recreation: \nTriathlons are not just for adults or elite athletes! Kids ages 7-12 are invited to swim\, bike and run to the finish line at the Janesville Kids Triathlon. The race includes a 100 meter swim\, a 2.5 mile bike and a half-mile run for kids. This opportunity is perfect for kids looking to have their first experience in triathlons. While awards will be given to the fastest in each age group\, this event is not structured as a highly competitive race. Instead\, this is a chance to celebrate health and fitness\, encourage self-confidence\, and most of all have fun while being active. \nDue to this being the event’s first year\, registration will be limited to the first 200 athletes\, with on-site registration only available if capacity has not reached 200 participants. Free t-shirts are guaranteed for all participants registered by August 12. The course is set in Janesville’s Rockport Park\, and will utilize Rockport Pool and the Peace Park Trail. Packet Pick Up and an informational meeting will be held on Friday\, August 24 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Peace Park Pavilion in Rockport Park. On race day\, Saturday\, August 25\, meet at Rockport Park and check in at the Peace Park Pavilion. Check in from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.\, then the race starts at 9 a.m. This event is open to children ages 7 – 12. Register online at https://runsignup.com/Race/WI/Janesville/JanesvilleKidsTriathlon . All participants registered before August 12 are guaranteed a free t-shirt. Registration is $30/child and will end on Tuesday\, August 21. It will be held September 7 & 8\, at Firehouse Park in downtown Janesville. Competitors will be asked to create their best sidewalk chalk art mural. \nMaster Chalk Artist/Street Painter\, Leigh Alfredson (A.K.A. Lee Jones) will return to be the featured chalk artist for the event. Leigh’s mural will be made from an image taken at the Janesville Town Square Gran Prix featuring cyclists with the new Black Hawk mural as the backdrop. \nThe 2-day event will include Leigh’s mural creation and a sidewalk chalk art competition for two age groups (age 7-12 and 13 and up). \nThe event will run from 9 AM to 4 PM on Saturday\, September 7 and 10 AM to 2 PM on Sunday\, September 8.
