Campers earn their “green thumb” by pulling weeds\, planting seedlings and turning the compost piles. Camp activities teach responsibility in a way that is satisfying and formative.\nCampers spend the week with our combined team of passionate\, experienced staff members. All counselors and educators have experience teaching\, as well as expertise in the fields of agriculture and environmental sciences.\n\nPLAY AND INDEPENDENCE\nCampers enjoy group games\, relay races\, ice-cream making using ingredients from the farm\, nature exploration\, hiking across our 70+ acres\, campfires\, nature crafts & more! In no time\, Campers become part of the working farm\, forming deeper connections to the land\, animals\, food\, and each other.\nStudies show that time in microbe-rich dirt can actually improve your health\, and time spent outdoors can lead to better academic performance!\n\nACCOMMODATIONS\nOvernight Camp is based at the Lodge\, which offers bunk-style lodging. Boys’ and girls’ dorms are on different floors with corresponding bathrooms and showers. The Lodge features bright\, open indoor space for gathering and dining\, a large deck and patio for communal meals al fresco\, and a cozy den downstairs for reading\, games and rainy day activities.\nDay Campers meet at the Gathering Space\, and all campers roam and explore on acres of outdoor space and hiking trails\, swing in the hammock garden\, walk the labyrinth maze (built by past camp groups!)\, toast marshmallows over the firepit and splash in the creek!\n\nMEALS AND NUTRITION\nFood is an integral part of farm camp at Farmers Rising. Camp Chef Andy will prepare fresh\, healthy meals for campers from local sources in the Lodge’s fully-certified commercial kitchen. Campers take part in preparing food\, harvesting food\, learning where food comes from and how it gets to the table. Campers have the opportunity to experience new foods from farm or garden to table\, experiment with old favorites and and deepen their understanding and connection to the land where food comes from!
