DESCRIPTION:Farm Educators Randy Mermel and Andy Skupien will lead a family-friendly overnight adventure in the 70 acre forest and along Kinnikinnick Creek. Get hands-on experience with basic wilderness survival skills like shelter building\, and how to cook over an open fire. Camp in our beautiful woodlands and enjoy the independence of wilder places. Experience the wonder of the land with nature hikes\, exploring the creek\, and learning how we give back to the land with our restoration work.\n\nGather around the campfire Saturday night for a campfire meal and dessert and get your Sunday started with a great campfire breakfast! Ingredients for meals will be sourced from our farm as well as other local farms.\n\nFamilies should bring their own camping gear including a tent\, and sleeping bags. Rain gear and sleeping bags rated to 30 degrees are recommended. Be prepared to walk into the camp site. Bring your own snacks and water bottles (Saturday night dinner and Sunday breakfast are provided).\n\nRegistration is $100.00 per family\, and includes your immediate family members and kids over 3 years old. This adventure is best suited for children over 8 years old. In honor of Veteran’s Day\, Veteran Families are invited to attend for no cost. In no time\, Campers become part of the working farm\, forming deeper connections to the land\, animals\, food\, and each other.\n​Studies show that time in microbe-rich dirt can actually improve your health\, and time spent outdoors can lead to better academic performance!​\n\n​ACCOMMODATIONS\nOvernight Camp is based at the Lodge\, which offers bunk-style lodging. Boys’ and girls’ dorms are on different floors with corresponding bathrooms and showers. The Lodge features bright\, open indoor space for gathering and dining\, a large deck and patio for communal meals al fresco\, and a cozy den downstairs for reading\, games and rainy day activities.\nDay Campers meet at the Gathering Space\, and all campers roam and explore on acres of outdoor space and hiking trails\, swing in the hammock garden\, walk the labyrinth maze (built by past camp groups!)\, toast marshmallows over the firepit and splash in the creek!\n\n​MEALS AND NUTRITION\nFood is an integral part of farm camp at Farmers Rising. Camp Chef Andy will prepare fresh\, healthy meals for campers from local sources in the Lodge’s fully-certified commercial kitchen. DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Lodge for a Fungi Foray in the wonderful world of mushrooms. Explore\, experiment and enjoy learning how to grow\, identify and use these unique organisms.\n\nSaturday\, May 11th. 12-4pm\, $40/person\, Adults & kids 12 and older.\n\nRegister on our website – https://www.farmersrising.org/farm-programs.html\n\nEducator and Farmer Allyson Rosemore will demonstrate how to inoculate logs with shiitake mushrooms from spore. Participants will also enjoy a foraging hike with Educator Randy Mermel over our 70 acres of wooded trails along Kinnikinnick Creek. Be sure to work up an appetite\, because back at the Lodge\, Chef Andy Skupien will be leading the group in a culinary experiment with mushrooms\, vegetables\, and herbs to make a foraged cream of mushroom soup.\n\nA large portion of our workshop will be held outdoors so please come dressed for the weather. Hiking boots recommended.
