Taking your kids camping is a great way to make wonderful memories! Decide which one of these scenic campsites in the Stateline you want to visit, grab your sleeping bags, load up the car, and get ready to enjoy some S’mores. Here are ten campgrounds in Loves Park, Rockford, Rockton, South Beloit, Beloit, Byron, Pecatonica and Durand where you can camp under the stars.
Rock Cut State Park Campground
7318 Harlem Rd., Loves Park, IL
Open May 1 through October 31
Rock Cut State Park offers many campsites, a cabin, and lots of recreation options all year. They also have two lakes, one for swimming and one for fishing, trails, playgrounds, and more. Please note: Olson Lake and Beach are closed for the 2022 season due to construction in the park.

Blackhawk Valley Campground
6540 Valley Trail Rd, Rockford, IL
Open April 15 – October 15
Check-in is 12 pm and check-out is 11 am
Located on the Kishwaukee River, this campground has mini golf, pedal cart rental, a playground, weekend activities and hayrides on holiday weekends. You can see a schedule of activities in 2022 here.

No kid tents allowed
No motorcycle traffic
$5 per hour for early check in or late check out

Hononegah Campground
80 Hononegah Road, Rockton, IL
Open Mid-April through Mid-November
Check-in by 10 pm, check-out by 3 pm
Located in a forest preserve, Hononegah Campground has a rich history and many available spots to camp out including a maple grove. The campground also has a boat launch into the Rock River, horseshoe pits and a playground on site.

Campsites at Hononegah are on a first-come, first-served basis. Register with the campground host or use the self-registration station. Only cash and check accepted.
Rivers Edge Campground

Open April 15 – October 15
Rivers Edge campground can allow you to camp next to the rivers edge in your RV or pull-behind camper. No tents are allowed.

Pearl Lake Campground

Pearl Lake Campground is a quiet campground with many mature trees and a man-made lake in walking distance. New for 2022 is the ability to rent a camper for around $100 per night.

Turtle Creek Campground

Campground in a semi-wooded area next to a large creek.
