The Magic Tree House books are a series of fun and educational chapter books that explore history from a kid’s perspective. Beloit Public Library is offering a brand new book club for kids in second through sixth grade to enjoy these books together. The book club starts on September 17, 2020 and continues through October 22, 2020.

What’s The Magic Tree House Series?

The Magic Tree House series made for readers who are just getting started with chapter books. The books follow the adventures of Jack and Annie as they go on missions and travel through time and learn about different periods of history, the people who were part of it, and the animals that lived during those times.

Each book follows a different adventure like meeting dinosaurs, learning about hurricane heroes, attending the greatest day of baseball in history, and following Ben Franklin as he makes amazing discoveries. The books are historical fiction which means that they are based on facts, but add some fiction to help the story flow.

If your kid is interested in the facts about each time period, there are complementary Fact Tracker books that cover the topics that the Magic Tree House books explore.

Once your kids have grown out of the Magic Tree House series, they can move to the Merlin Missions series which is designed for slightly older kids who are ready for a more challenging chapter book. You can view a list of all of the Magic Tree House books here.
