Looking for something fun to do with your family? Beloit Public Library and the Downtown Beloit Association have the perfect FREE family-fun activity to do this summer. The Downtown Beloit Story Stroll is a way for your family to get outdoors, enjoy a book, and see more of downtown Beloit.

What is the Downtown Beloit Story Stroll?

The Downtown Beloit Story Stroll is a scavenger hunt, storytime and family walk all in one! It’s an interactive experience where families can read a story together while walking through downtown. Pages from the story will be placed on 15 business windows. When you visit each business, you will read the next part of the story.

When is the Story Stroll taking place?

The Downtown Beloit Story Stroll starts on Monday, July 20th and runs through August 30th. Families can read the story anytime during the day throughout this time period. Families are asked to keep social distance from other families participating in the Story Stroll.

What businesses are participating in the Story Stroll?

There are 15 downtown Beloit businesses taking place in the Story Stroll. All participating businesses are located on Grand and State Street. Parking is recommended on the street or in the Broad Street parking lot.

Families should visit businesses in this order to read the story:

  2. Walnut Creek Apparel & Gifts, 408 E. Grand Avenue
  3. Always & Forever Formal Wear, 317 State Street

What book will families read on the Story Stroll?

Families will read the book Hannah’s Tall Order: An A to Z Sandwich by Wisconsin author, Linda Vander Heyden. The story is about a little girl who isn’t quite sure what she wants to eat. It’s a cute and funny story that’s appropriate for all ages.

What other library events are happening this summer?

Beloit Public Library is currently running their virtual Summer Reading Program. Families can sign up here to log their reading and earn prizes. Those who complete the Story Stroll and have the Beanstalk app will be entered for a chance to win a copy of Hannah’s Tall Order.

In-person library events have resumed with registration required. The library is also open from 9:30 am – 7 pm Monday through Thursday and 9:30 am – 5:30 pm on Friday and Saturday. Find events and more information on Beloit Public Library’s Facebook page.
