Turkey donations for Salvation Army’s Community Thanksgiving Dinner are needed. Donations can be dropped off Monday – Thursday form 9 am – 4 pm.

What’s Needed: New handmade or purchased mittens, scarves, hats, socks for kids birth – 18 years old

Help Beloit kids stay warm this winter! Beloit Public Library is collecting new home-made or purchased mittens, scarves, hats, and socks for children ages birth to 18 years. Drop off your donations during regular library hours.

What’s Needed: Winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarves for ages 13-24

Donations Accepted: Now – November 15, 2018

Just Breathe 815 and Wheels by R.T. are collecting winter gear for homeless individuals in our area. Bring new or used and in good condition coats, hats, gloves, scarves for people between the ages of 13-24.

What’s Needed: Gifts for families in our community

Donations Accepted: November 23 – December 24, 2018

Want to help a local family during the holidays? Buy a new teddy bear, book, or mittens… something to put on or under the Giving Tree. Shoppers can purchase items and return them to the Giving Tree from Black Friday through Christmas Eve.

The Giving Tree, located on the upper level near Claire’s, will be available from November 23rd to December 24th. Through this program, necessities and Christmas gifts are provided for local in-need families and children from Winnebago County.

What’s Needed: Donation of your time, bell ringing

Donations Accepted: November 23 – December 24

The Salvation Army Red Kettles have been a holiday tradition since 1891. But did you know, the money raised during our kettle campaign is used to bring joy and relief to those in need throughout the entire year? Bell ringers are needed at numerous locations in Cherry Valley, Loves Park, Machesney Park, Rockford, Roscoe, Winnebago, Beloit, and Janesville. Sign up at www.registertoring.com

The Rockford Rescue Mission needs volunteers who can serve a meal, tutor in their Works! Center, serve coffee at the cafe, or mentor a recovering man or woman. Sign up here.

Winnebago County residents need to bring:
1. Photo ID for head of household
2. Proof of address for “every member of the household, including children” (current link eligibility with household names, recent mail, OR school records) Must be dated within the last 30 days
3. Proof of birthdate for every child in household aged 15 & younger (birth certificate OR school records).

November 19 – December 14 from 9 am – 3 pm
Registration will continue at The Salvation Army Social Service office at 416 S. Madison St., Rockford.

Saturday, November 17 from 11 am – 3 pm

You will need photo ID for head of household (adult applying), ID for every member of the household including child (medical cards, birth certificates, school IDs or letter from school), proof of income for the last 30 days (food share benefit letter, reduced lunch letter, or income for everyone in household), proof of address (utility bill, driver’s license does not count). All low-income families who live in Beloit and South Beloit are eligible.
